- We (my late husband and I) moved to California in December 2008 from Brussels, Belgium. Orginally we are from Minnesota. I have 7 year old papillion-chihuahua mix named Foxy and in January I add a new puppy mill rescue that is 5 years old named Ana. She has taken up alot of my time. My Husband was killed in July 2009 now this is the story of what is happening day to day as a young widow trying to find fun and friends again.

After the squirrels demolished our last feeder, we went to the wild bird store looking for birds-only feeder. The owner told us that, in his experience, there is no such thing as a squirrel-proof feeder. He suggested getting a thistle feeder for the finches, since squirrels don't like thistle. (Of course that hasn't stopped our four squirrels from using the new feeder as a swing.)
We have have a thistle feeder on the other side of the yard for Joe's birds. Joe wasn't happy to see these photos that I took yesterday "why didn't you get him out of the feeder" he said.
