In most cities I visit I alway take photos of things with the cities name on it (sewer cover etc). I saw this and knew I need to take a photo.

Pere LaChaise Part 2

Here is part two of the cemetery. I hope you enjoy them.

Père Lachaise is one of the most famous cemeteries in the world. Located in the 20^th arrondissement, it is reputed to be the world's most-visited cemetery, attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors annually to the graves of those who have enhanced French life over the past 200 years. It is also the site of three World War I memorials. Which I could not find the Belgium one.

Pretty

This was hard to photograph, it kept focusing on the trees in the background not the clear glass monument. It is a tribute to the people on flight from Rio to Paris in 2009. I thought that was a nice thing to do.

Pere LaChaise part 1

I have always wanted to visit Pere LaChaise Cemetery, Joe and I just always ran out of time even thought it was always on the list. (just like the flea market) I have so many photos from the cemetery that I think it might be a 3 part blog. If you can believe it I was there for 4 hours and could have been there all day. Part of the time I was lost but that made it fun to wonder around and find different sights. Yes I did buy a 2 euro map outside to gates, then everyone else that was totally lost would ask if they could look at mine.

A little back ground on the cemetery, it is 118.6 arches big and the largest cemetery in Paris. The cemetery was established by Napoleon I in 1804. Cemeteries had been banned inside Paris in 1786, after the closure of the Saints Innocents Cemetery (Cimetière des Innocents) on the fringe of Les Halles food market, on the grounds that it presented a health hazard. (This same health hazard also led to the creation of the famous Parisian catacombs in the south of the city.)

Kissing Cousins

Wednesday I went to the twins game with my cousin. Here are some photos she took.

Why I look so tired...they are doing construction on the house next door. Tuesday they worked till 9:00 pm then started digging again and shook me out of bed at 6:30. That is the only day in a year I wanted to stay in bed. So this is another reason why I haven't been able to just lay around in my bed.
